First Bite: Acacia Hotel's Acaci, The Lobby and A Steakhouse

Alabang seems to be a very distant place if you reside somewhere in Quezon City or what we call “North”. This is why I hardly get to explore the serene and posh area of Metro Manila. I was lucky though to be invited by Acacia Hotel to celebrate with them the launch of celebrity chef Boy Logro’s dishes in its Acaci restaurant.

Hello, Acacia Hotel.
It was my first time to step foot inside this Filipino restaurant and I was impressed by its high ceiling lobby. I was also mesmerized by the beautiful abstract art that adorns the spacious area.
It was then when Acacia Hotel’s Senior Sales Manager, Jason Dinglasan, mentioned that the abstract art near the elevator is actually a dragon split into different canvasses and the metal art on the wall against the front desk is a bird’s eye view of an acacia tree.
Acacia is one of the shortest, if not the lowest, hotel in Alabang. So do not expect a striking view from its roof top.
But what Acacia could offer is its accessibility to the malls and other establishments. It is also located right across the road that gets closed every Sunday to cater to joggers and bikers.

After our tour of the hotel, we headed back to Acaci Coffee Shop, the cafĂ©/buffet area of Acacia, to wait for the start of the launch of Chef Boy Logro’s dishes.
It wasn’t long till the start of the program which was a cooking demo, highlighting two of Chef Boy’s dishes namely Tumeric Lentil Crusted Snapper Fillet and Grilled Rack of Lamb with Potato Malunggay Puree
During the cooking demo, we were served with a delightful bowl of Cream of Corn Soup with Avocado and Shrimp Tartar which is available at The Lobby & A Steakhouse. Though I really wasn’t able to taste the avocado and shrimp tartar, I loved how creamy the soup was. They didn’t scrimp on corn as each spoonful had a couple of corn bits.
Next served was the scrumptious Grilled Rack of Lamb with Potato Malunggay Puree which was served with asparagus, cherry tomatoes, guava mint glaze and lamb jus.
I loved that it was succulent and well seasoned. It also went well with the potato malunggay puree which was a healthier version of creamy mashed potato. The veggies used were fresh and crisp.
Last savory dish served was the Tumeric Lentil Crusted Snapper Fillet. The turmeric taste was refreshing and its taste went well with the fish.
However, I was not so fond of the powdery texture of the snapper fillet.
To cap our course sampler, we were given a plate of Kahlua Chocolate Marquis which was heavenly. Each bite was decadent yet not cloying. The macaroon piece added texture to the beautiful plate of chocolate dessert.

Aside from these treats, one could also indulge in other dishes such as Rabo De TorroSpiced Coffee Rubbed Baby Pork RibsGinger Soya Poached Chicken with Kailan Leaves and Pan Fried Tilapia with Chorizo, Bean Ragout and Citrus Beurre Blanc from Acaci Coffee Shop’s buffet spread for only PHP1,395.
Acacia visitors can also avail of the sampler set of The Lobby sans the snapper fillet dish (which is available for in room dining 24 hours) for only PHP980+ per person! That’s not a bad deal at all given the quality of the dishes.

What I liked best about Acacia Hotel and its dining establishments is that it has this warm feel to it. I do not get intimidated at all despite the interiors hence being comfy throughout my quick stay.
Overall, it was a nice meal. Though the savory dishes were more of hit-and-miss, the desserts were really good! Go for the soufflĂ©, espasol, and caramel eclairs!
Acaci, The Lobby and A Steak house Acacia Hotel is located at 5400 East Asia Drive corner Commerce Avenue, Filinvest Corporate City, Alabang, Muntinlupa City.
